As spring is bringing many things into bloom, the new New Hope City Hall/Police Station continues to blossom as construction enters its final stages and the city looks move in just a couple months.

City staff took a tour of the new facility on Friday morning, seeing many of the new work spaces taking shape. Here’s a few of the latest construction details:

On the City Hall side, floor coverings are being installed and doors, hardware and solid surfaces set. Some wallpaper is being installed, along with wood and sound panels. Installation of the soffit in the vestibules finishing up.

On the police department side, low voltage fire/security is being installed along with HVAC, electrical and fire sprinkler drops. Ceiling grid and pad installation is underway. Floor covering installation also got underway this week.

In the parking garage, plumbing/electrical/HVAC/sprinkler rough-in was underway this week along with the installation of case work. Locker room and bathroom accessory installation will start next week, followed by the installation of lockers and tactical defense flooring. Elevator installation is scheduled the week of May 6.

On the exterior, stormwater work is underway and underground tank installation is scheduled over the next several weeks, followed by final grading and retaining wall installation. The emergency generator is scheduled to be installed in the next couple weeks.

A construction update bulletin was sent to Zealand Avenue residents this week regarding water main work to be completed on Zealand Avenue on April 29 and 30. The bulletin also informs residents that, due to site constraints with stormwater work to be completed at Xylon Avenue entrance, the contractor will be using the Zealand Avenue fire department driveway access for a limited amount of construction traffic to continue work on the back side of the new police department/city hall building.
