As the weather trends warmer and more people are getting outside, more solicitors are going door-to-door.
As salespeople are making their way through the streets, knowing the dos and don’ts of solicitation in New Hope is essential.
Before beginning any sales in New Hope:
- Solicitors must first register with and get the approval of the city
- Applicants must always possess a copy of their registration while soliciting
Upon the city’s approval to solicit, salespeople cannot do these prohibited practices:
- Disobey a “No Solicitation” sign posted on private property
- Obstruct the free flow of vehicular or pedestrian traffic
- Create a direct threat to the health, safety, or welfare of any individual or the general public
- Enter residential premises between 8 p.m. and 9 a.m.
- Harass, intimidate, abuse, or threaten a person; continue to offer merchandise for sale to any person after being declined, or refuse to leave premises
Solicitors in violation of those prohibitions can be charged with a petty misdemeanor.
