Repairs are coming to the Boone Avenue railroad crossing! At its April 26 meeting, New Hope City Council passed a resolution approving a joint powers agreement between the city and Canadian Pacific Railway for replacement of the railroad’s crossing on Boone Avenue.

The agreement establishes that Canadian Pacific will be the lead agency in design, engineering, construction and administration of the project. Per the terms of the agreement, New Hope will furnish all labor, material and work equipment required to pave the roadway approaches up to the edge of the concrete crossing surface, traffic control, detour signing and any incidental work necessary to complete the project.

The total cost of the joint powers agreement is $101,560.29 with a total cost to New Hope of approximately $80,560. The project will be funded primarily by the city’s street infrastructure budget.

Work on the Boone Avenue crossing will begin once repairs to the Winnetka Avenue railroad crossing are complete. The Winnetka Avenue project began April 26 and is anticipated to take four to six weeks.
