NHPD Annual Report

Letter from Chief Tim Hoyt

As I reflect upon 2024, I am proud and honored to work alongside
our department’s sworn and civilian staff for their professionalism
and courage. I am also amazed by the wonderful support that we
have received from our great community in our pursuit of earning
their trust.

This past year we maintained our stability – never being more than
two officers below full staffing – which is a testament to the strength
and dedication of this department. While many departments around
us continue to struggle with staffing, we remain strong and steady in
our ability to offer outstanding service and keep New Hope safe.

We also prioritized our schools more than ever in 2024, in part due
to the brief School Resource Officer controversy that our county
experienced. Despite what we were told by certain outlets, we
learned that the police are – by in large – welcomed, accepted, and
needed in our schools by both staff AND students. We spent the
year volunteering in our elementary schools and, with the help of
our Joint Community Police Partnership Liaison, created a Student
Multi-Cultural Advisory Committee (MAC) at Cooper High School –
the first of its kind in the state of Minnesota. I could not be prouder of everything our Student MAC accomplished last year and cannot
wait to see what they do in the future.

As always, myself and this department will stand at the ready for the
challenges that our profession brings us. With challenge comes
opportunity, and we will continue to put in the work and effort with
the goal of providing the best service possible to our community.
Sincerely,
Chief Tim Hoyt
