2027 Infrastructure Improvement Project

Overview:
At the Oct. 12, 2026 meeting, the City of New Hope will present the feasibility report for the proposed 2027 Infrastructure Improvement Project. A public hearing will then be held on Oct. 26, 2026.

A map of affected streets is available at the link below.

The project map shows two types of street repairs.  Streets will get a reclaim and overlay, which means the old pavement is completely removed down to the gravel base. Roads will be gravel for a couple of weeks while repairs are made, then new pavement will be added.

Schedule:
The project will begin in spring 2027 and will be completed by fall 2027. Work will take place from Monday to Friday, between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m., with occasional work on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Project Reminders:
Irrigation Systems & Invisible Fencing
Some homeowners have installed irrigation systems and/or invisible fencing adjacent to the street. Because these private structures are within City right of way, they are in the path of the project and must be moved. To avoid spending tax dollars to relocate private irrigation and fence systems, homeowners are responsible for temporarily moving or relocating their own systems. This work should be completed prior to construction.
Paint Markings and Flags Decoded

The flags and markings in your neighborhood represent the general location of the utilities (gas, water, sewer, electrical, phone, cable, etc.) and are critical to minimizing the potential construction impacts to existing utilities.

For safety and to protect utilities from damage and interrupted service, law requires anyone who wants to dig on either public or private property to first contact Gopher State One Call for underground utility locating. This law applies even if no permit is required for excavating work.

Once the utilities have been located they are marked with paint and flags using standardized color coding:

  • Blue = water
  • Green = sanitary and storm sewer
  • Red = electric
  • Orange = communications (telephone fiberoptic and cable TV)
  • Yellow = gas

Garbage & Recycling Pickup
Garbage and recycling should be picked up as scheduled. Please continue to have your garbage and recycling curbside by 7am on your service day. The garbage and recycling contractors will collect in street project areas on schedule. Please continue to report any missed pickups to your respective garbage or recycling contractor.
Schedules May Change on Short Notice
Weather, delays by subcontractors, or other unforeseen events can cause schedule changes. The contractor makes an effort to notify residents as soon as possible for situations where utility or driveway access restrictions may be experienced.
