Residents of New Hope, Crystal and Robbinsdale are invited to take part in the 2025 Community Police Academy, a free, seven-week course offering an inside look at local law enforcement. The program is designed for adults of all ages and backgrounds who live or work in any of the three cities and want to better understand how their police departments operate.

Led by officers from the New Hope, Crystal and Robbinsdale police departments, the Community Police Academy includes classroom instruction and hands-on demonstrations. Topics covered throughout the academy include patrol tactics, juvenile crime, investigations, narcotics, crime scene processing, dispatching, court procedures, use of force, canine demonstrations, crime prevention strategies and mental health in law enforcement.

Classes will be held Tuesday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m., beginning Sept. 9 and running through Oct. 21, 2025. Participants must commit to attending all seven sessions. Space is limited, and the application deadline is Monday, Sept. 8 at 3 p.m.

Registration is available online at the City of Crystal Community Police Academy webpage at go.crystalmn.gov/academy. Mail-in registration is also accepted through the form available on the website.
