Overnight Closures Scheduled for 36th Avenue Bridge Due to Rescheduled Painting Work

The Minnesota Department of Transportation has announced overnight closures on the 36th Avenue Bridge, the adjacent pedestrian bridge and portions of Highway 169 southbound as part of rescheduled painting work. Originally delayed due to weather conditions, the work will now take place overnight from Tuesday, May 27 through Thursday, May 29, between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night.

Detour Routes

  • For Southbound Highway 169 Traffic: Use the 36th Avenue on- and off-ramps as a temporary detour.
  • For Westbound 36th Avenue Traffic: Detour via northbound Hwy 169 → Rockford Road → southbound Hwy 169.
  • For Eastbound 36th Avenue Traffic: Detour via southbound Hwy 169 → Medicine Lake Road → northbound Hwy 169.

Please follow posted signs and detour routes carefully.

Note: All construction activities and traffic impacts are subject to change depending on weather conditions and crew scheduling.

  • Practice patience and expect delays, especially during peak travel hours.
