During its regular meeting on May 27, the New Hope City Council presented the 2025 Good Citizenship Award to three outstanding residents: Aiysha Mustapha, Jane Hagstrom and Seth Gagnon. The awards recognize their exceptional contributions to the community and their efforts to enrich the lives of others in New Hope.
The City Council reviewed all submitted nominations during its April work session and unanimously agreed to honor all three individuals for their dedication and impact.
- Aiysha Mustapha was recognized for her passionate volunteerism and advocacy for equal opportunity. She has played a vital role in educating residents about diverse cultures and has led two successful Juneteenth events that brought the community together in celebration and learning.
- Jane Hagstrom received the award for her tireless efforts to promote literacy and music among young residents. Through her commitment to accessibility and inclusion, she has helped foster community connections. Ms. Hagstrom has also organized National Night Out events for several years, encouraging neighbors to come together and build relationships.
- Seth Gagnon was nominated for his selfless assistance to neighbors, helping many maintain their independence at home. From mowing lawns and shoveling snow to providing rides to medical appointments, Mr. Gagnon’s everyday acts of kindness embody the spirit of the award.
The Good Citizenship Award was established by the New Hope City Council in 2011 to honor residents who demonstrate outstanding civic dedication. It highlights individuals whose volunteer efforts significantly enhance the quality of life in New Hope.
Nominations for the Good Citizenship Award are accepted annually from January through March. For more information about the program and how to nominate someone, visit newhopemn.gov/recognition.
