The City has awarded the 2025 seal coat and fog seal project to Pearson Brothers. This project will improve road conditions in several neighborhoods across the city. Depending on the area, work will include different combinations of crack repairs, seal coating, and fog sealing. You can check the project maps below to see what work is planned for your neighborhood.
What to Expect During the Project
The project will happen in several steps over a period of weeks:
-
Crack Repair – Crews will start by cutting and filling cracks in the pavement to prevent water from getting underneath and causing more damage.
-
Seal Coat Application – After the crack repairs, crews will return to apply a tack coat (a sticky layer) and then spread small rock chips (chip seal) on top. This helps protect the road and extend its life.
-
Waiting Period – The chip rock layer needs to stay in place for at least 10 days. This allows it to set properly and ensures it sticks to the road surface.
-
Fog Seal Application – After the waiting period, crews will come back one last time to apply a fog seal. This is a thin layer of asphalt-like material that seals everything in, reduces dust, and gives the road a smooth, black finish.
Parking and Traffic Reminders
-
“No Parking” signs will be placed on affected streets one day before work begins. These signs are a clear notice that work will start the next day.
-
Any vehicles still parked on the street when work begins will be towed at the owner's expense.
-
Streets will generally remain open to traffic, and residents will still have access to their driveways throughout most of the work.
-
You may notice loose rock and some dust during the process, but cleanup will occur as part of the final steps.
Thank you for your patience as we work to keep city streets safe and well-maintained.
