It’s almost time for the much-anticipated Hennepin Recycling Group (HRG) Bulky Waste Curbside Cleanup Event! New Hope and Crystal are split into 10 pickup zones, and collection will happen from March 30 to April 9. Each zone has a specific pickup day.

In early March, eligible households will get postcards with a zone map and a list of accepted items. You can also find your pickup date by searching your address on the interactive map at hrg-recycling.com/bulky-waste.

ACCEPTABLE ITEMS
You can set out old or unusable furniture, mattresses, carpet, general household junk (up to 100 pounds per item), vacuum cleaners and appliances.

The cost of the bulky waste program has more than doubled in the last five years. To keep costs down, HRG has set limits on how much can be collected. General junk and building materials are limited to one truck bed-sized pile, about 4 feet by 8 feet by 2 feet. You can also set out up to two pieces of unusable furniture, two mattresses or box springs, and two appliances. If you go over these limits, extra items will be left behind and you will need to arrange and pay for separate disposal.

ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED
Items that are not accepted include electronics like TVs and computers, hazardous materials, paint, concrete, railroad ties, and tires. You can drop off hazardous materials and paint for free at the Hennepin County Drop Off Facility at 8100 Jefferson Highway in Brooklyn Park. The facility also takes electronics and tires, but some items may have a small fee.

COLLECTION DAY
On your collection day, please put your items at the curb by 7 a.m. Trucks will only come by once. Three different trucks will come at different times: one for appliances, one for bulky items, and one for regular trash.
