New Hope residents are invited to take part in an upcoming Special Material Drop-Off Day, hosted in partnership with the Hennepin Recycling Group (HRG) cities of Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Crystal and New Hope. The event provides a convenient way to responsibly dispose of items that are not accepted in curbside recycling.

Date: Saturday, April 25, 2026
Time: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Location: Brooklyn Park Operations and Maintenance Facility, 8300 Noble Ave N
ITEMS ACCEPTED AT NO COST
Residents may drop off the following materials for free:
- Batteries (auto and household)
- Bicycles
- Cardboard boxes (flattened and free of non-paper materials)
- Used oil, oil filters and antifreeze
- Paper for secure, on-site shredding
- Scrap metal
ITEMS ACCEPTED FOR A FEE
Some materials will be accepted for a small fee:
- Appliances ($10 each): Air conditioners, microwaves, stoves, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, washers, dryers, furnaces, dehumidifiers, water heaters and more
- Electronics: $5 fee for computers, monitors and televisions; No charge for other electronics such as printers, phones, stereos and MP3 players.
- Mattresses and box springs ($20 each): Must be clean and unsoiled.
- Tires ($2 each): Any size, with or without rims.
ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED
The following items will not be accepted at this event:
- Carpet
- Exercise equipment
- Furniture
- Lamps
- Leaf blowers
- Light bulbs
- Lumber
- Paint
- Remodeling debris
- Trash
- Yard waste
